Trullo Dipinto Gardens

Verandah

The trullo’s stone-built, star-vaulted verandah, is where most guests eat. Here a shaded dining table with cushioned seating for six, a built-in sink and traditional barbecue – just begging for all that fresh, local seafood – turn al fresco dining (and breakfasting) into a sophisticated affair.

“ This trullo house is just amazing! We came in the evening and all – garden, pool and the house looked like a fairy-tale.”

Filip

Trullo Dipinto

Pool

Trullo Dipinto’s substantial 10m x 5m private pool is salt treated, giving a more natural bathing experience, without the smell or drying effect of chlorine. An al fresco shower is nevertheless available for post-swim rinsing or uplifting, secluded morning ablutions, amidst the rustling olive leaves and bird song of the gardens.

Six pool loungers await the sun-gods, and for the shade-seeker, a beautiful stone and Moorish-tiled pergola, with gauzy curtains and seating for eight people, offers both daytime cool and a romantically lit hideaway for evening sundowners.

In the pool room, you’ll also find two adult’s bicycles with locks, basic snorkelling equipment and beach and pool toys for the kids.

“ The canopy where the dining table was located felt like we were sitting in our own luxury restaurant when we enjoyed a meal there.”

Claudia

Accomodation

Spaces & Bedrooms

A restored stone trullo with modern lamia annexe, Trullo Dipinto offers all the luxuries of home, as well as original artworks, quirky vintage touches and authentic advertising and film ephemera. The emphasis is on homeliness, personality and quality.

Master Trullo Room

Under its four stone domes, the original 200-year-old trullo side of the house offers a king-size double bedroom, with door opening onto the central courtyard. It is flanked by an en suite shower room and a separate dressing room, which includes a queen-sized, sprung sofa-bed and Victorian linen press.

Study

Between the trullo and lamia and the metre-thick stone walls, lies a study area featuring a beautiful roll-top antique desk and a telescope – to take advantage of that rarity: a complete absence of light pollution.

“ Last night we got to see Mars, Jupiter and her moons, and the highlight was Saturn and her rings!!! Oh my gosh … breath taking. Thank you for that experience.”

Terri

Here you’ll also find an artist’s easel and materials, drawers of wooden board games and puzzles, a varied library of DVDs; and plenty of books to accompany the hammock slung under poolside olive trees.

Master Lamia Bedroom Suite

The integrated lamia side of Trullo Dipinto includes a second double bedroom, channelling ‘cool’ through both an air conditioning unit and an original outsized ‘The Italian Job’ film poster. The beds can be configurated as either a double or as two singles and the room features an en suite shower room and external door opening on to a private patio, overlooking the pool and olive grove – the perfect setting for that morning cappuccino.

Bedroom 3

Cosy, comfortable bunkbeds, most suitable for two children, with a vintage vibe; including original 1920s school lockers for storage. A third bathroom next door provides modern shower and toilet facilities.

“ A beautiful stay in an incredible place! We’ve so enjoyed spending time here with the amazing pool and kitchen. We visited Lecce & Polignano a Mare, Alberobello and Monopoli. All well worth a visit but Monopoli is my favourite. If you visit, be sure to wander the old town streets behind the harbour – as lovely as can be.”

Catherine

Living Area

At the heart of Trullo Dipinto is a spacious, stone, barrel-vaulted living and kitchen area, comfortably and tastefully furnished, filled with original artworks, vintage ephemera and curios, yet with all the modern conveniences of air con, TV, Netflix, wifi, DVD player, Alexa and a fully equipped kitchen, including retro SMEG fridge freezer.

For those looking for a winter bolthole, a toasty, wood burning fireplace and full central heating also awaits.

Outside space

A 200-year-old trullo, sympathetically restored and extended with a modern lamia…

In the wall-to-wall sunshine of Puglia, outside is where it all happens; and Trullo Dipinto has you covered (or not, if you want to top up that tan).

Trullo Dipinto

Gardens

Trullo Dipinto is a magical place, centrally located to explore the excess of cultural, natural and epicurean wonders of Puglia. It is a mere ten-minute drive from the buzzy, baroque beauty of Ostuni and from the Adriatic coast with its choice of sandy beaches or rugged, dramatic coastline. Yet also offers total seclusion for the ultimate in restorative breaks.

Trullo Dipinto Gardens

Set in a gated, stone-walled compound with gravelled parking for three cars, Trullo Dipinto combines manicured flower gardens with a rambling olive grove of 50 mature trees beyond, the oil from which is left for our guests to enjoy; and which is carpeted with vivid, wild flowers in the Spring.

The whole is an oasis of calm, fanned by sea breezes, offering the widest, darkest night skies for star-gazers (telescope supplied), and a foragers delight of almonds, persimmons, figs, nespolis, capers, prickly pears, lemons, wild herbs and pomegranates. And with an oak swing and hammock hanging from ancient olive trees to lazily enjoy it all from.

“We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our week here and can’t even express how much we loved our bedroom (the trullo one) – so cosy and comfortable. We would LOVE to come back here again. HUGE thanks to the hosts for having us.”

Christine

***** cool

“This traditional villa is in the countryside, in the middle of olive trees, and is perfect for recharging your batteries, but ten minutes from the beaches and the magnificent town of Ostuni: very lively in the evening. The service complies with the description of the advertisement with high-end equipment and an efficient management service. The pluses: three bathrooms, which was appreciated because there were 7 of us, and a very large and pretty swimming pool cleaned twice a week, with a covered lunch area and BBQ to recommend!”

Claudia

“We had a wonderful week in this beautiful and carefully furnished house. It was so complete and luxurious. A lovely welcome pack was waiting for us with local delicacies. The pool was great and decent sunbeds by the pool too. At night it is beautifully lit. The canopy where the dining table was located felt like we were sitting in our own luxury restaurant when we enjoyed a meal there. Beautiful greenery in the garden and we were surrounded by a large plot of land with an infinite number of olive trees. Many beautiful beaches nearby and, of course, beautiful towns, such as Alberebello, Martina Franca and Ostuni within easy reach. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a holiday home in Puglia.”

Our location

The wine-growing, oil producing

Valle d’Itria…

Set in the gently rolling plains of the wine-growing, oil producing Valle d’Itria, Trullo Dipinto is a 30-minute drive from Brindisi airport, an hour and a half from Bari, and is perfectly located for exploring the endless cultural, natural and culinary highlights of Puglia. The beautiful white city of Ostuni is a cycle ride away; it’s fascinating 13th century cathedral presiding over a labyrinth of glistening, stone-paved lanes, packed with boutique shops, buzzing bars and night life and eateries, ranging from haute cuisine to freshly baked pizza on the go. Cafe life, baroque beauty and Puglia’s famous cuisine dominates here and in the surrounding hill-top towns of Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ceglie Messapica and Locorotondo. All are within 40 mins from Trullo Dipinto, with the trullo epicentre of the UNESCO Heritage site, Alberobello, 45 minutes away.

“ If you are reading this, don’t miss a trip to Lecce, Alberobello, Polignano, Ostuni … too many to list. ENJOY! ”

Adrian and Debbie

Along the Adriatic’s azure coastline, the beach resorts of Torre Pozzelle, Lido Morelli, Quarto di Monte and Rosa Marina are all between a 10 and 20-minute drive, while the dramatic cliff towns of Monopoli (recommended for boat trips through its honeycomb of sea caves) and Polignano a Mare (site of the Red Bull cliff diving competitions), are both within a 40-minute drive.

” Many beautiful beaches nearby and, of course, beautiful towns, such as Alberebello, Martina Franca and Ostuni within easy reach. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a holiday home in Puglia.”

Claudia

And for the kids, Fasano’s Zoosafari and amusement park is just 30 minutes of uncontainable excitement away and Castellana Grotto’s Indiana Adventure Park can be reached in an hour.
